The Brits still called Santa Claus ‘Sinterklaas’ from the Dutch name for ‘Saint Nicholas’
Sinterklaas was not a large man dressed in red riding a sleigh pulled by reindeer. This image was created much later
Christmas Stockings had yet to become a tradition in Britain
Christmas trees had only been introduced to England 9 years before in 1848 due to Prince Albert bringing the tradition over from German
Christmas Poppers as we know them had not been invented yet
Candy Canes hadn’t been created yet (though generic secular peppermint sticks existed)
